With Cozy Cabins, you will feel special and cared for and not just another fee-paying customer on some sort of assembly line. It is a first class operation and quite worth the effort to avoid the more commercial and 'factory' designed tours that do their best to accommodate dozens and dozens of visitors every night. To make a long story short (clearly too late for that).you should not hesitate or feel anxious about booking an excursion with Tracy or Cozy Cabin. Nuff' said but do not underestimate mother nature. On the way home we all learned about 'ice fog' - whole new experience. Part of the experience was enduring the conditions but it was mighty frosty.

We were all well layered and dressed with the correct gear but any exposed skin or substandard gloves/boots were subject to getting cold fast.

We had a group shot taken outside and the results are quite remarkable in rather taxing conditions.Ī short note regarding the weather in February.IT IS REALLY COLD.We were all Canadians and we know cold but this was at another level.

I am something of an photography enthusiast and it was evident that she knew her way around a camera and is about as close as one can come to being a professional while still having a full-time job doing something else. She is a quite and soft spoken but quite skilled in her know how and more than willing to share tips and tricks to other photographers in the group. I should also comment on the photographer that joined our group. It was cool yes and Tracy was really concerned about it (not surprising as she is really invested in creating a positive experience for the group), but it would have been a success with or without the lights.

The Northern lights eventually came out and danced a wee bit for us, but I am confident in saying that this was just an added plus and that the evening was not dependent upon her making an appearance. Thanks so much for the food, it was really wonderful. While we knew that there would be food, the high quality and taste explosions was just another unexpected treat. The Bannock is much like a scone and with fresh butter and some high quality jams and spreads, it was most civilized. I do not even like fish stew and this midnight meal was simply amazing and just perfect when you come in from the cold. She prepares a hearty fish stew and a traditional bannock that is both extremely tasty but that also fills the cabin with an aroma of fresh food being prepared on the hearth. The cabin is rustic, the wilderness is rustic and the food is rustic.but that does not mean that it is not delicious. She was very generous in sharing information and stories and responded to questions with an ease and confidence of a politician (despite declaring herself as apolitical.) She is a bit of a 'character' but I mean that in only the best way possible. She made everyone feel both welcome and special, asking just enough question to learn about us but without being intrusive. It is a combination of her very folksy mannerisms, her comfortable hospitality and the absolute beauty of the environment that make it such a pleasant and memorable outing. Tracy is a very engaging individual and she is well suited to the role she plays during the evening. (Again, no complaints from anyone in this regard.) There is an outhouse that saw considerable use with a group this big and I can assure you that it was a much desired feature when I was organizing our group. The cabin was nicely warm on a VERY cold night (-45C) and a welcome reprive from the time spent outside.

Tracy has a decorated that cabin with rustic reminders of an earlier time, a few stuffed foxes and some traditional outer wear. It is EXACTLY what it should be and it operates as a bit of a 'time machine' in transporting you to a different era when life was a bit harder and people just a bit tougher. The cabin itself is accurately described as 'cozy' and a bit crappy.but oddly that only adds to the ambience and experience.

I am pleased to report that we all left with big smiles, full bellies and lots of tales and laughter. While the experience is not the cheapest available, I can state with absolute certainty that everyone felt that it was excellent value and there were no complaints at the end of the night. Everything went exactly as planned and when dealing with a big group.no surprises it a much desired benefit. The activity itself was the highlight of our group's Yellowknife/Northern experience. We spoke a handful of times and she was able to accommodate every request, had an answer to every question and she made a number of useful suggestions. We were a group of 11 people and the experience was wonderful.įirstly, Tracy is super easy to deal with over the phone and she is very committed to providing everyone with a first class experience. We spent a memorable evening with Tracy (aka Cozy Cabin) last week.(February 11th, 2020).
